Roadrunner Pantry
According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Texas's food insecurity rate is above the national average, and roughly ten percent of college students nationwide — about 3 million students — report facing food insecurity (Feeding America, 2014). The Roadrunner Pantry exists to meet this need among our own student population.
Your gift gives UT San Antonio students facing financial distress — often forced to choose between paying bills and putting food on the table — direct access to nutrition support so they can stay focused on their education.
Housed in the Whataburger Resource Room on both the Main and Downtown campuses, the Roadrunner Pantry runs entirely on donations from the campus community. Through a self-selection model, students may take up to five multi-meal food items, providing up to a week of supplemental nutrition. This year alone, the pantry has distributed more than 104,000 pounds of food to hundreds of UT San Antonio students — and it also supplies essential non-food items like shampoo, laundry soap and deodorant, helping students stay equipped to excel academically.
The Roadrunner Pantry and the UT San Antonio community thank you for your generosity and look forward to fighting hunger on our campuses together — help the Roadrunner Pantry with a donation today.
The Whataburger Resource Room is open to all students in need with a valid UT San Antonio ID. Food and non-food items are limited to 5 items per day.
